Update: Despite having made no changes (except as described above), the issue appears to have resolved itself – I can now boot from my laptop's hard drive with no problems, and from my external drive with no problems other than a short (<30 second) delay. Given that the external hard drive is now decrypted but still pauses during the booting process at the same place as before, the issue likely had to do with the OS startup files rather than decryption, but I'm not going to complain as long as it keeps working. How do I clone a filevault 2 encrypted drive without the password? I'm working on a repair/upgrade for a friend, and part of that is moving their data from a hd to an ssd. I don't have their password, but it seems like I should be able to block copy the data from the old hd to the new ssd without decrypting it first. Revo uninstaller with crack free download. Connect the external hard drive to PC, and set the internal drive as source and external as destination in Carbon Copy Cloner. You shall have to turn off file vault to reset the Mac now. Turn FileVault Off. I want to copy my entire OS/volume/disk (which is FileVault-ed) from on MacBook to another, whose volumes(s) are also FileVaulted. Assuming no OS incompatibilities between hardware, will a Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) file/rsync-based copying/cloning from a MacBook source (regardless of T2) to a T2 MacBook work - and why or why not?
